E.ON: New Corporate Learning Centre in Moscow strengthens German-Russian partnership

With a new E.ON Corporate Learning Centre in Moscow E.ON takes another important step to strengthen its longstanding relationship with Russia and its Russian employees. The joint project with the Graduate School of Business Administration of the Moscow State University will become the first E.ON training institution outside Germany. It will offer leadership development programs on the fields of business administration, HR management, general management, as well as industry competence and problem-solving.

“The power industry is one of the most technologically demanding sectors. Our employees have to be experts and leaders of the highest professional standard. This is the reason why E.ON has decided to establish its own Corporate Learning Centre in Moscow. For us, investing in our employees is no less important than investing in production”, says Sergei Tazin, CEO of E.ON Russia Power.

“The E.ON Corporate Learning Centre in Moscow will give our employees world-class learning experience. In close cooperation with the Management of E.ON Russia Power we will provide the skills and knowledge necessary for our colleagues in Russia when they want to achieve cutting-edge business results”, adds Volker Wiegmann, Chief Learning Officer and Head of the E.ON Academy, Germany.

E.ON first began its initiative for an intensive exchange of Russian and German know-how and cultural understanding in 1990. Since that time in context of the cooperation in professional training between E.ON and OAO “Gazprom”, hundreds of Russian and German manager, specialists and young professionals have had an opportunity to expand their professional and personal horizons and to make new contacts. As outstanding examples of this cooperation are advanced training programs for general directors, chief engineers and senior managers on the fields of corporate governance, general management, HR and change management. This year, the 2000th participant is expected.

“Graduate School of Business Administration of Moscow State University is proud to enter into long-term partnership relations with E.ON. GSBA MSU has traditionally focused on serving needs of large corporations, and this joint project with E.ON is yet another proof that our strategy is recognized by business. What is even more important about this project, is that together with E.ON we will be able to contribute to the training and development of leaders in the key Russian industry” – says Oleg Vikhanskiy, Dean of the GSBA MSU.

After the acquisition of OGK4 in 2007 and the successful start of the integration process into the E.ON group, E.ON is now taking the next step by implementing a training academy for managers in Russia.
